Visiting IKN, Stranas PK Team Finds Problems With Licensing Overlap

JAKARTA - The National Corruption Prevention Strategic Team (Stranas PK) found an overlap in licensing in the newly built capital city of Nusantara. This finding was obtained during a visit on June 20-23, 2023.

"One of the targets for the achievement is the status of the clean and clear IKN area, so coordination and field visits are carried out regarding the incompatibility of oil palm, mining and forestry licensing in the IKN area," said Stranas PK Daily Coordinator Niken Ariati in a written statement, Monday, July 31.

Niken detailed that the first overlap problem was in the oil palm plantation sector. It was found that there were gardens in the production forest area and taura Bukit Suharto.

In addition, there was a collision in the plantation and forestry sectors. "Then, overlapping oil palm plantations with permits in the mining sector," he said.

Next, Stranas PK found mining activities in the Bukit Suharto forest area. Then, there is also mining activities in the production forest without permits in the forestry sector.

"There are also mining activities in other use areas, without licensing in the mining sector, and overlapping mining business permits with permits or palm oil business rights," explained Niken.

Niken said the findings had been coordinated with the IKN authority. The follow-up will be prepared regulations to resolve existing problems.

Moreover, the manager did not want to stop the activities he violated because he claimed that there had been no order to stop the IKN authority. Stranas PK hopes that all relevant stakeholders will immediately resolve the problem before the state loses money.

"Problems like this certainly harm the state and create a potential gap in the potential for corruption, therefore Stranas PK encourages the completion of overlapping space utilization through a one map policy approach in the period 2023-2024," he said.

Next, the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) was also asked to take firm action against violations of land use based on the permit given. The Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK) is also said to provide blessing for the punishment.

"The recommendations for follow-up plans for the Ministry of Environment and Forestry include imposing sanctions on mining activities and oil palm plantations without forestry permits in forest areas," concluded Niken.
