Abu Janda 'Islamic Arrogance' Teasing Criticized By Yenny Wahid, Does Not Reflect NU Values And Vision

JAKARTA - Gus Dur's daughter, Zannuba Ariffah Chafsoh or known as Yenny Wahid assessed that the attitude of social media activists Permadi Arya or Abu Janda who called 'Arogan Islam' did not reflect the teachings or values and vision of Nahdlatul Ulama (NU).

According to Yenny, the NU attribute that a person wears cannot represent that the figure can represent NU as a whole.

"Now many claim to be NU but if we trace genealogically their knowledge, descent, or organizational experience, there is never any connection with NU," he said, when contacted by VOI, Sunday, January 31.

The Director of the Wahid Foundation said that Islamic teachings, as articulated by many NU activists so far, actually provide protection for diversity and the rights of minority groups.

"These Sundanese Wiwitan figures often attend our events. So if you say Islam is arrogant towards them, I am actually questioning this statement. That there may be a small proportion of Muslims who persecute different groups, (but) they cannot. it is said that Islam is problematic, "he explained.

As is known, the social media activist Permadi Arya or Abu Janda is in the public spotlight regarding his tweet on Twitter which calls' Islam Arogann. For his tweet, Abu Janda, who often claimed to be a nahdiyin, was reported to the police.

On social media, Abu Janda often shows frills as an activist for Nahdlatul Ulama (NU), the largest religious community organization (mass organization) in Indonesia. Like dressed in striped style Banser style.

Regarding the arrogant Islamic tweet, not long after the tweet, Abu Janda then made a video of clarification aimed at the kiai and the ustaz of the Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) Executive Board.

In the video, Abu Janda explains the meaning of the tweet about arrogant Islam and apologizes for the misunderstanding he made.

On his Twitter account, Abu Janda again admitted that he had never said that Islam is an arrogant religion. Accompanied by a screenshot of the news from Barisan Kesatria NU.
