TANGERANG (Menag) Minister of Religion, Yaqut Cholil Qoumas said that the large number of pilgrims who died in the Holy Land was an average of the elderly (elderly). According to Yaqut's assessment, this has made the number higher since 2017.

It is known, as many as 748 pilgrims who died while performing their prayers in the Holy Land, Saudi Arabia. This number is considered the highest since 2017.

As of today, a total of 748 pilgrims have died. This figure is the highest in the hajj process since 2017," said Yaqut Cholil Qoumas, at Soekarno-Hatta Airport, Tangerang, Thursday, July 27.

"We also understand because there are many elderly pilgrims this year and the weather conditions there are very heavy," he said.

Therefore, his party will conduct an evaluation for handling the problem.

He said his party would cooperate with the Ministry of Health regarding the health of the pilgrims.

"We will evaluate it. We have discussed it with the Ministry of Health to prepare a mechanism in the future regarding the term hajj health. This is also part of the improvement.

"For example, before the congregation makes a payment, a health check is carried out first, if it is declared healthy or strong it can be dispatched and can only be paid off," he said.
