Central Sulawesi (Central Sulawesi) Regional Police destroyed evidence of drugs consisting of 15.38 kilograms (kg) of methamphetamine and 2.1 kg of marijuana from the disclosure of 1 case with 3 suspects.

The Director of Drug Investigation at the Central Sulawesi Police, Kombes Pol. Dasmin Ginting, said that his party also destroyed 60 bales of second clothes aka thrifting and 18 bales of used imported shoes with the number of reported people.

"Our destruction was carried out by boiling evidence of methamphetamine and marijuana, while the used clothes were burned," he said at the Central Sulawesi Police Headquarters, Palu, Thursday, July 27, which was confiscated by Antara.

From the destroyed drug evidence, Dasmin claimed that around 86,792 people were saved from drug abuse.

Meanwhile, the value of used clothing is estimated at around Rp. 300 million.

"The police continue to be committed to efforts to prevent and take action against drug abuse," he said. Irwasda Polda Sulteng Senior Commissioner (Kombes) Pol Asep Adhiatma said his party was aggressively eradicating drugs as directed by President Joko Widodo (Jokowi).

"The number of narcotics abuse in Indonesia has reached 5 million cases which is an iceberg phenomenon," he said.

In addition to narcotics, he added, President Jokowi is also worried about the rampant practice of the used-import clothing business which is considered to be disturbing the domestic textile industry business, ordering law enforcement officials and related parties to eradicate it.

Based on this instruction, the Central Sulawesi Regional Police took action and confiscated 78 bales of imported clothing.

"The methamphetamine that was destroyed was caught in Tolitoli Regency belonging to the international network suspect, while the used clothes were given voluntarily by the owner to be destroyed by the police," he said.
