The Palace Has Not Received a Proposal for a New Jampidsus Name from the Attorney General

JAKARTA - Secretary of State Prasetyo Hadi revealed that so far the Palace has not received a proposal for the new name of the Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus) from Attorney General ST Burhanuddin. In fact, the position is vacant after Febrie Adriansyah resigned.

Prasetyo explained that the mechanism for the definitive appointment of Jampidsus was the authority of President Prabowo Subianto through a presidential decree (Keppres). However, the presidential decree can only be issued after the president receives a formal proposal from the attorney general.

"The mechanism is that the position is appointed and determined by the president through a presidential decree based on a proposal from the attorney general, which until today we have not received the proposal," said Prasetyo in his statement, Monday, July 13.

According to Prasetyo, the proposal is needed to fill the position of Jampidsus which was left by Febrie Adriansyah.

Prasetyo emphasized that, unlike the appointment of new officials, the resignation of an official does not require a presidential decision because it is the personal decision of the official concerned.

"If the resignation does not use a presidential decree because the resignation is personal from the person concerned who states that he has resigned from the capacity of the position he holds. So it does not use a presidential decree," he said.

He added that the presidential decree was only needed when the president appointed new officials to occupy the position of Jampidsus. "The presidential decree will apply in the context of the appointment of new Jampidsus officials," said Prasetyo.

Previously, Attorney General ST Burhanuddin received Febrie Adriansyah's resignation letter as Jampidsus on Saturday, July 11.

Head of the Legal Information Center (Kapuspenkum) of the Attorney General's Office, Anang Supriatna, said that the resignation was a form of commitment to maintain the integrity, objectivity, and neutrality of the law enforcement process. According to him, Febrie's decision is also related to the legal process currently being handled by the National Police investigators.

"The Attorney General's Office respects the decision and ensures that all tasks, functions, and handling of cases in the environment of the Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes continue to run normally according to the applicable mechanisms," said Anang.

Febrie Adriansyah along with another suspect with the initials DR is known to have been named a suspect in the alleged corruption and money laundering (TPPU) case.

Meanwhile, the Attorney General's Commission (Komjak) assessed that the Attorney General's Office needed to immediately have a definitive Jampidsus so that leadership in the field of handling special criminal cases would continue to run optimally.

Komjak Chairman Pujiyono Suwadi said the appointment of Rudi Margono as Acting Head of the National Police Intelligence Agency (Jampidsus) was appropriate to meet short-term operational needs.

However, to maintain the continuity of policies and organizational certainty, Komjak encourages the government to immediately appoint a definitive Jampidsus as a replacement for Febrie Adriansyah.
