JAKARTA - Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy (Menparekraf) Sandiaga Uno targets the number of foreign tourist visits (tourists) to the Borobudur Temple Super Priority Tourism Destination (DPSP) to reach 2 million visits per year.
"All progress according to the route, foreign tourists visiting above the top target and visiting Nusantara (wisnus) tourists have a positive impact on job creation," Sandiaga said as quoted by ANTARA, Friday, July 21.
Sandiaga said specifically for Borobudur, it can be seen from the population of Buddhists in ASEAN.
"It can be projected to reach 2 million foreign tourists with a total target of tourism foreign exchange income reaching 2 billion US dollars," said Sandiaga.
Sandiaga also explained that efforts and development steps at Borobudur Temple will be a breakthrough to open up business opportunities and employment opportunities not only for the people of Magelang but also those around them such as Yogyakarta and Central Java in general.
The government is focused on developing five DPSPs into quality tourism destinations that must be ensured to be completed by 2024.
The achievement of foreign tourists and foreign tourists targets in 2023 is the main indicator that reflects the readiness of five DPSPs as the main choice destination in welcoming the momentum of global tourism recovery in 2024.
