Sumenep Police continued their search for two victims of the Yellow Women's Motorcycle Sailing Ship (KLM) which sank in Giligenting Waters, Sumenep Regency, East Java.

"The sinking ship is thought to have hit the oil and gas drilling rig pole belonging to one of the operators operating in the water area," said Head of Public Relations of the Sumenep Police, AKP Widiarti, quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, July 20.

As a result of the incident, two victims were declared missing. Meanwhile, seven other victims survived after being rescued by two fishing groups.

Widiarti said that the ill-fated ship sailed from Panarukan Port, Situbondo Regency, on Tuesday (18/7) at 23.00 WIB, to Giliraja Island, Giligenting District, Sumenep.

The ship with the crew of three people carried six passengers (people), six tons of cement and one ton of wood, asbestos, and mineral water.

"When the incident occurred, the ship's position was already in the Giligenting waters. It was suspected that the weather conditions were not supportive and the ship was full of cargo, eventually dragged by the waves and then hit the drilling rig pole," said Widiarti.

The two victims who have not been found are passengers, namely Sumarni (48) and Iriyanti (9), both women and Situbondo residents.

While the seven survivors were Saruji, Subairi, and Laili, the three crew members and Giligenting residents, Sumenep.
