JAKARTA - President Director of BAKTI of the Ministry of Communication and Information, Anang Latif, said that his party was preparing to procure 4G signals in all corners of Indonesia. The aim is none other than to support the tourism sector and the creative economy throughout Indonesia.
According to Anang, in 2021, his party plans to build 7,904 4G BTS throughout Indonesia. Meanwhile, the focus of development will be in eastern Indonesia.
"This portion in the eastern region is the largest or reaches 65 percent. We will ensure this connectivity will be completed," he said in a webinar, Thursday, January 28.
In addition, Anang explained that the government is currently improving the quality of telecommunications in all tourist areas in Indonesia. Especially the quality of telecommunications in the five super priority areas (DSP).
Furthermore, Anang admitted that several areas in the five DSPs did not yet have good telecommunication quality. In fact, this is needed to attract domestic and foreign tourists.
"In Lake Toba, the quality of this telecommunication is 4 star, which means it is good, Borobudur 5 star is very good, Mandalika 4 star, Labuan Bajo is still 3 star because of the hilly area," he said.
Anang explained that one of the reasons the telecommunications network in Labuan Bojo is not as good as other areas is the geographical shape of the area which tends to be hilly. So, he admitted it was an obstacle.
"So it's a bit difficult to reach it and Likupang is still a two-star. Now, the 2021 target must all have 5-star quality," he said.
