Social Minister Launches Bracelet For People With Disabilities Rungu And Wicara

JAKARTA - Minister of Social Affairs (Mensos) Tri Rismaharini launched a Bracelet for Persons with Disabilities Rungu and Wicara (GRUWI) in order to reduce the potential for accidents to rape of them.

"So this is a form of my confusion when many children he was visually raped," he said at the Launching of GUWI in Jakarta as reported by ANTARA, Monday, July 3.

Risma explained that the creation of innovation of assistive devices for people with disabilities was motivated by the number of rape cases committed against the deaf and deaf.

In addition, another reason behind the existence of this innovation tool is that many people with visual impairments and the deaf are victims of accidents such as being hit or run over by a train.

Risma said that when she was Mayor of Surabaya, a young man walked on the tracks and was run over by a train even though she had been shouted at and reminded by many people about the train that was about to pass.

At that time, Risma knew from the victim's family that the young person was deaf and mute so that he did not know about the passing train even though he had been reminded.

"For that reason, which then made me ask the staff to create tools for our deaf and deaf brothers and sisters," he said.

Risma explained that later when a visually impaired person panics over an incident, there is a button on GRUWI that can be pressed by a button so that this bracelet makes a sound asking for help.

Not only that, there is also a movement sensor in GRUWI so that when there is something dangerous around the deaf, this bracelet will cause vibrations that can be felt.

"For motion sensors, for example if there is a train or anything behind him and he doesn't know there will be a motion sensor and the bracelet will vibrate so that it can be felt," said Risma.

Risma said that GRUWI will be provided as assistance from the government but will prioritize people with disabilities from poor families.

The Ministry of Social Affairs is currently trying to be able to produce a large number of GRUWI while complementing features that make it easier for people with disabilities.

The features that will be added are mainly to help people with disabilities because they do not understand how to ask for help and so on.

"We have data (recipients) but we prioritize some. Young people first, especially because in terms of security and mobility," said Risma.
