JAKARTA - The Traffic Corps (Korlantas) of the National Police will use a new technology called radio frequency identification (RFID) on special and confidential number plates. The goal is to prevent duplication and use of fake plates.
"I have tested the use of RFID for special numbers and secret numbers," said the Director of the Police Traffic Corps Recognition, Brigadier General Yusri Yunus, to reporters, Kamsi, June 22.
RFID is a sticker in the left or right corner of the number plate. Its function is that the police number used can be read by the ETLE system or others.
The use of this technology is claimed to prevent duplication or falsification of vehicle number plates.
"Yang banyak terjadi kemarin nomor khusus satu, diduplik jadi 10 jadi di rumah, satu nomor, dia buat sampai ke pembantu-pembantunya menggunakan nomor (specifikan) yang sama. Tomorrow sudah tidak bisa, karena ada RFID. Jadi cuma satu saja untuk satu nomor," paparnya.
"If he duplicates it, when it hit the camera it turns out that it can't be read, then it's a false indication and we will immediately use the number to serialize to the police or Propam to revoke the number, don't give it again, because it's already a forgery," he continued.
This RFID will only be attached to four-wheeled vehicles. This is because the majority of special and secret plates are intended not for motorcycles.
"In the future, we will make RFID 4-wheeled vehicles. So that there will be no more people, if today is odd or even, today even use even, tomorrow change the odd ones," said Yusri.
