On World Hydrography Day, Megawati Receives Brevet Hydro-Oceanography From The Indonesian Navy

The Fifth President of the Republic of Indonesia who is also the Chair of the Steering Committee of the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) Megawati Soekarnoputri received a brevet award for hydro-oceanographic honor from the Indonesian Navy. The ceremony for embedding honorary brevets was held at an event wrapped in the international seminar on World Hydrography Day 2023, which was held at the Samudera Hall, Kelapa Gading, Jakarta, Wednesday, June 21. Before the brevet is handed over, it is read out the Decree signed by the Chief of Naval Staff (KSAL) Admiral Muhammad Ali first. “ Chief of Naval Staff considered and decided, making the decision to give honorary brevets to number 1 Prof. Dr (HC) Megawati Soekarnoputri, the position of Chair of the Steering Committee of the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) ” thus the decision. Apart from Megawati, the recipients of the honorary brevet are Rear Admiral (TNI) Iwan Isnurwanto who is also Asrena KSAL; Amrih Jinangkung who is the Director General of Law and International Agreement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Bebeb AK Nugraha Djundjunan who is the Extraordinary Ambassador to Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Indonesia to Greece. This “ Decision comes into effect on the set date. Established in Jakarta on June 20, 2023,” according to the follow-up to the decision. After being read out, the chairman of the PDI-P DPP, Eriko Sotarduga, Megawati, walked to the stage. A jacket was worn to Megawati. After that, Kasal was represented by Deputy Chief of Staff Vice Admiral TNI Ahmadi Heri pinned the honorary brevet. After that, accompanied by the Head of BRIN Laksana Tri Handoko, Megawati witnessed firsthand the process of signing a Letter of Intent (LOI) between the Indonesian Navy and BRIN. This was also witnessed by Indonesian Navy officials. After the procession was all carried out, Megawati was then asked to stay on stage to provide input as a keynote speaker at the event. To note, Megawati was all speakers at a seminar with the theme “ Hydrography; Underpinning The Digital Twin of The Ocean ”.

Apart from Mega, other speakers were Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Sakti Wahyu Trenggono, Head of BMKG Prof. Dr. Dwikorita Karnawati, Director of Research and Technology Center, University of Kiel, Germany Prof. Dr. Roberto Mayerle, Head of the Malaysian Hydrographic Agency Rear Admiral Dato' Hanafiah Bin Hassan, and Asrena Kasal Admiral TNI Dr Iwan Isnurwanto.
