Facing The Peak Of The August Drought, NTB Budgets IDR 20 Billion To Overcome Drought Disasters

The West Nusa Tenggara Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) proposed a budget of IDR 20 billion to the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) to address the impact of drought in the region.

"We propose to the center Rp20 billion," said Head of BPBD NTB Ahmadi in Mataram, quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, June 21.

He said that such a large budget is needed by the regions, considering that the budget in each region is minimal.

"If we talk about the budget, not only us, all regions are the same. It's all minimal," he said.

Ahmadi said that later the existing budget would be used for the operation of the tank car which would distribute clean water to people affected by the drought. In addition, the budget is also to finance the honorarium of the officers.

"It all has to be prepared properly," he said.

He hopes that the proposed budget can be realized by BNPB. Considering that in July and August it is estimated to be the peak of the dry season in NTB.

"Hopefully our proposal will be accepted by BNPB and once the peak of the dry month in July and August the budget will come out," said Ahmadi.

Furthermore, Ahmadi added that the NTB BPBD has taken steps to anticipate drought in several areas, especially in the southern region, which is a drought subscription every year.

Such as on the island of Lombok, covering Sekotong in West Lombok, Southwest Praya, East Praya in Central Lombok, Jerowaru, Keruak, and Pringgabaya in East Lombok.

Meanwhile, on Sumbawa Island, anticipation of drought will be carried out in the Moyo and Moyo Hilir areas in Sumbawa Regency, Dompu Regency. Then in the Sape and Wera areas in Bima Regency.

"Every year there is only the operation of the tank car," he said.
