Members Of The Indonesian Navy In Bintan Become TIP Suspects

BATAM - Military Police Main Base of the Indonesian Navy (Lantamal) IV Batam named a member of the Indonesian Navy with the initials M as a suspect in his involvement in the alleged criminal act of trafficking in persons revealed by the Bintan Police.

"According to the results of the information we got after examining one witness at the Tanjungpinang BP2MI Office, the Indonesian Navy officer with the initials M, we have named him a suspect," said the Commander of the Military Police of Lantamal IV Batam Marine Major (PM) Joko Hary Mulyono in Batam, Riau Islands, as reported by ANTARA, Thursday, June 15.

Currently, POM LantamalIV is still conducting investigations regarding the extent of the involvement of members of the Indonesian Navy in charge of the Maintenance and Repair Facility (Fasharakan) of the Minister of State Affairs Tanjung Uban.

"Regarding this investigation, we are still exploring the extent of the involvement in question because the person concerned is still sick and suffering from tuberculosis (TBC). But, so far he has been involved in this case," he said.

Joko Hary emphasized that the members of the Indonesian Navy were suspected of Article 81 in conjunction with Article 83 of Law Number 18 of 2017 concerning the Protection of Indonesian Migrant Workers as amended by Law Number 6 of 2023 concerning Stipulation of Government Regulations in Lieu of Law Number 2 of 2022 concerning Job Creation into Law.

The determination of the suspect against members of the Indonesian Navy, continued Joko, is proof that his institution will not play games if there are still members involved in the TIP case.

"We will wipe out if there are individuals involved in this TIP case," he said.

Previously, the ranks of the Bintan Police, Riau Islands, secured five illegal Indonesian migrant workers from West Nusa Tenggara with the initials SN (35), RW (27), TA (31), AZR (41), and AM (36) who had just been sent home from Malaysia via the people's port in the area, Saturday (10/6).

A member of the Indonesian Navy with the initials M is known as the owner of the shelter for the five illegal migrant workers in the Bumi Roro complex, North Bintan District, Bintan Regency, Riau Islands.
