SURABAYA - As many as 1.9 million people were netted by justitia operations in 15 areas implementing the Enforcement of Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM) in East Java for two weeks. Of that number, 1.5 million people were prosecuted for violating health protocols (prokes).

Gatot explained, there were as many as 1.2 million justitia operation activities carried out by the East Java Regional Police, together with Polres / Polresta and Satpol PP in 15 districts / cities in East Java that implemented PPKM.

The raids targeted 34,647 shopping places / malls, 40,013 places of worship, 7,562 tourist or entertainment places, 89,951 restaurants, 19,030 markets, and 6,664 places for public transportation such as terminals, stations, airports and ports.

"Most of the people who violate are dominated by not wearing masks properly," he explained.

"Of the total violations, the value of fines was recorded at more than Rp.502 million. In addition, 50,502 ID cards and passports were confiscated," he said.

Gatot reminded the public to keep implementing the prokes because the goal is to prevent and break the chain of transmission of COVID-19 in East Java.

"We urge the people of East Java to adhere to the program. This is solely to protect themselves, their families and the people around them," said Gatot.

As decided by the central government, PPKM in a number of districts / cities in Indonesia will be extended for another two weeks, from 26 January to 8 February.

About the implementation of this PPKM extension, Gatot said, the East Java Regional Police were still waiting for the coordination meeting with the East Java Provincial Government to be held today.
