JAKARTA Apple is reportedly carrying out a fundamental overhaul of its virtual assistant, Siri, to catch up with AI machines such as ChatGPT. This revamp will be carried out in stages from 2025 to early 2026, with the vision of creating smarter and independent Siri.
According to reports, Apple has introduced some minor changes to Siri, such as the command typing feature, a new interface, and an increased ability to understand the pause as users speak. Starting from iOS 18.4 which is scheduled to be released in the spring of 2025, Siri will also have better interactions with applications and more sophisticated integration of personal data.
In the near future, Siri will gain integration with ChatGPT from OpenAI. However, according to a Bloomberg report, this move is only temporary to provide Siri with a more sophisticated AI feel, while Apple continues to develop its AI generating machine.

Apple is expected to unveil big plans for Siri's new engine at the WWDC event in June 2025. The new engine is scheduled to be available to users in the spring of 2026 along with the launch of iOS 19.4. These changes will integrate all the gradual improvements made over the 18 months into one more integrated platform.
Apple's big vision is to create Siri which no longer relies on external assistance to answer questions or carry out user orders. With this new foundation, Siri is expected to be able to provide a smoother, more accurate, and independent user experience in various scenarios.
Users are expected to be able to enjoy this change gradually, although the biggest new upgrade will be felt when the whole new system is ready to roll out. With this move, Apple demonstrates its commitment to turning Siri into a truly competitive virtual assistant in the AI era.
