The perpetrator of the motorcycle theft opened fire when carrying out the action on Jalan Angkasa Kecil, Kemayoran, Central Jakarta. The incident caused a commotion among local residents. However, despite carrying a firearm, the perpetrator failed to carry out the action because it was caught by residents. The perpetrator is known to have carried out the action alone and took advantage of the quiet atmosphere in residential areas.

From the CCTV footage, the perpetrator was seen carrying out the action alone. When in action, the motorcycle thief was seen wearing a white shirt and wearing a black helmet.

In the CCTV footage, it appears that the thief of the motorcycle with the rifle stole a black automatic motorbike. The thief pushed his stolen motorbike to the end of the alley.

However, two residents who suspected the perpetrator's movements appeared and tried to chase the thief. The perpetrator, who was already pressed, took out a gun and pointed it at the residents who caught it.

Not only that, the motorcycle thief in Kemayoran also fired shots at residents. Luckily, the shots fired by the perpetrators did not reach the residents. The thief of the motorbike managed to escape from the residents' ambush.

Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the Central Jakarta Metro Police, AKBP Hady Siagian, confirmed the incident.

"The witness has not been able to confirm whether the perpetrator used a rifle or an airsoft gun. We have also checked the location and the investigation of the crime scene did not find any projectiles of the perpetrator," said AKBP Hady during confirmation, Wednesday, June 14.

AKBP Hady said, from the testimony of witnesses who were asked for information, it was not yet known what type of weapon was used because it was dark at that time.

The motorbike that wanted to be stolen was successfully thwarted by residents because they were shouted at by the crowd and residents chased them.

"The perpetrators did not succeed in carrying the stolen motorbike because they were shouted at and chased by residents. The perpetrator fled by leaving the stolen motorbike," he said.
