NTB - Polda Nusa Tenggara Barat (NTB) involves the role of personnel to guide security and public order (Bhabinkamtibmas) in supervising the recruitment process for Indonesian Migrant Workers (PMI).

Director of Community Development (Dirbinmas) of the NTB Police, Kombes Pol. Dessy Ismail, said that this was to prevent the crime of trafficking in persons (TPPO).

"So, we have 1,151 bhabinkamtibmas spread across each village/kelurahan. Through this role, we will activate prevention," he said in Mataram, NTB, Tuesday, June 13, which was confiscated by Antara.

Dessy added that currently one of Bhabinkamtibmas' routine activities in each village/kelurahan is "Friday Curhat". Activities with the community can be the entrance to the police in preventing TIP actions.

"Later, through this 'Friday Curhat', understanding will be given to the public regarding the dangers of recruiting PMI without going through the procedure," he said.

As Head of Subsatgas for Prevention of TIP Polda NTB, Dessy appealed to people who intend to work as PMI to take official procedures.

Dessy also explained that the characteristics of the official Indonesian Migrant Worker Placement Company (P3MI) often recruit openly.

"If the recruitment is secretly reported to the village officials, coordinate with Bhabinkamtibmas. If it is closed like that, it should be suspected of being fake," said Dessy.

In addition, the official feature of P3MI is to have a PMI candidate shelter (CPMI) before departing abroad

"In that period of shelter, it should also not take long, at the latest it is a week, it is also waiting for departure. If more, it should be suspected," he said.

The last feature, he continued, is that the company must provide an explanation to CPMI regarding rights when working abroad.

"It must be transparent, rights such as work leave, repatriation if there is an incident while working, it must be clear, it must also be written in a work agreement," said Dessy.

He reminded CPMI to equip themselves with language knowledge and work skills.

"So, don't be desperate in capital, without provision. You must have skills and master the language of the destination country, that's important," he said.
