BATAM - Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Sakti Wahyu Trenggono sealed the imported fishery commodity in the form of 20 tons of salmon owned by PT D in the Batu Ampar area, Batam, Riau Islands, because it was not in accordance with the designation.

Trenggono said that the leakage of imported salmon fish distribution directly entered the local market, thus disrupting the demand for local fish from Indonesia, such as bloating and other fishing fish.

Financial Manager of PT. D, Ayen said the fish were obtained from importers of Jakarta with low prices.

He admitted that he did not know that the imported salmon fish, which sold for Rp. 20,000 per kilogram, should not be sold directly to consumers.

"I was offered Jakarta people, yes he said salem. Yes, we bought it because it was cheap," he said.

Imported salem fish can only be used for the indexing industry. This is in accordance with the KKP's commitment based on Law Number 7 of 2016 concerning the Protection and Empowerment of Fishermen, Fish Cultivation, and Salt Ponders.
