JAKARTA - The Government of Kediri City, East Java has decided to extend the implementation of restrictions on community activities (PPKM) until February 8, 2021.

This policy was taken following the high mortality rate of COVID-19 patients in this city.

Kediri Mayor Abdullah Abu Bakar was reported by Antara, Saturday, January 23, that his party had conducted an evaluation regarding the implementation of PPKM on January 22, 2021 based on data as of February 21, 2021.

"We have conducted evaluations related to this PPKM and the results of the evaluation show that the death rate in Kediri is still high and even increasing," said Abdullah.

The national parameter for the mortality rate was 3 percent, while in Kediri City on January 6, 2021 it was 8.48 percent and January 21 was 9.80 percent. With that, case data is still high.

However, from data per January 21, 2021, three other parameters, namely the Bed Occupancy Ratio (BOR), the rate of active cases and the cure rate are much better.

In the BOR for the isolation room, for example, the national parameter is 70 percent. In Kediri City on January 6, 2021, it was 75.77 percent and it succeeded in decreasing as of January 21, 2021 by 65 percent.

The parameter of active cases nationally is 14 percent. In the City of Kediri on January 6, 2021, it was 7.57 percent and as of January 21, 2021 it had decreased to 4.79 percent.

Then the parameter of the national cure rate is 82 percent. In Kediri City on January 6, 2021, it was 82 percent and as of January 21, 2021 it increased to 84.74 percent.

The mayor hopes that the extended PPKM policy can be obeyed by all residents in Kediri. With that, it is hoped that it can reduce the number of the spread of COVID-19.

"I hope all people can comply with this rule. So together we can minimize the spread of COVID-19," said Mas Abu, his nickname.

He said the PPKM in Kediri City was extended until February 8, 2021 with two additional strategic efforts.

First, people with comorbidities should do work from home (WFH) and limit themselves not to go out of the house.

"We also encourage more COVID-19 survivors to donate plasma in the convalescent plasma donor movement (Gedor Pasen) by coming to PMI. If PMI is okay, PMI will take the plasma to heal our brothers who have high risk and severe symptoms, "he said.

In Kediri City, data for COVID-19 per day has reached 933 people who were confirmed positive for COVID-19. Of that number, 45 people are still being treated, 5 are being monitored, 793 people have recovered, and 90 people have died.

Data on the number of people who died on Monday, January 18, were 87, with the number confirmed positive for COVID-19 reaching 888 people. The number of residents who died of 87 people then increased until now it has reached 90 people.
