6 Days Missing, 67-Year-Old Fisherman Found Dead In North Maluku Waters

The Ternate Basarnas found Yolap Togolo (67), a fisherman from Igo Village, North Halmahera Regency, after six days of search operations. The fisherman was found dead.

Head of the Ternate Basarnas Office Fathur Rahman said the victim was found on the sixth day of SAR operations at around 08.30 WIT.

Fathur explained that the search operation yielded results from the joint SAR Team which rested at 12.00 WIT, Saturday, June 3.

The search then continued at 14.00 WIT. At 17.15 WIT, the joint SAR Team who was carrying out the search received information that a body had been found in the waters between Wayabula and Samyanimau Villages.

At 18.00 WIT, the joint SAR team arrived at the location and checked the body. After checking and the family admitted that the body was Yolap Togolo, the team then carried out an evacuation to Igo Village.

At 21:10 WIT, the joint SAR team arrived at the funeral home and the victim was handed over to the family in Igo Village.

With the discovery of the victim dead, based on an Antara report, the SAR operation was declared complete. Meanwhile, all elements involved are returned to their respective units.

The elements involved in the search included the Tobelo SAR Post Rescue Team, Tobelo AL Post, North Maluku Police Polairud, Igo Villagers and the victim's family.

Previously, on May 28, 2023, at 18.00 WIT, the victim went to sea 10,500 meters from the coast of Igo Village by boat.
