KSAL: The Design Of KRI Bung Karno-369 Was Worked On By The Children Of The Nation

JAKARTA - The Chief of Staff of the Indonesian Navy (KSAL) Admiral TNI Muhammad Ali said that KRI Bung Karno-369 was the first type of corvette RI warship whose design was made by a domestic company.

Admiral Ali said the entire process of making KRI Bung Karno-369 was worked on in Indonesia, including the design.

"This is the design of the nation's own children directly, this is a progress in my opinion. And this, in the field of machinery, we are still from outside, but from the design then the platform, then the communication system has used a lot of domestic equipment," he said after the inauguration ceremony of KRI Bung Karno-369 in Jakarta, Thursday, June 1, which was confiscated by Antara.

Admiral Ali continued, the level of domestic components (TKDN) of KRI Bung Karno-369 also reached 80 percent, or only 20 percent of ship components were imported from abroad.

"This (TKDN) is 80 percent," he continued.

KRI Bung Karno-369, created by PT Karimun Anugrah Sejati in Batam, was inaugurated by the 5th President of the Republic of Indonesia Megawati Soekarnoputri at the Mako Kolinlamil Pier of the Indonesian Navy, Jakarta, Thursday, June 1.

The inauguration coincides with the Birthday of Pancasila which is commemorated every June 1.

During the inauguration ceremony, Megawati said she was proud that her father's name was embedded in the KRI. "For me and my family, this is a matter of pride," said Megawati.

During the ship inauguration ceremony, Megawati was present with other Bung Karno's children, namely Diah Mutiara Sukmawati Soekarnoputri and Mohammad Guruh Irianto Soekarnoputra. Then, Bung Karno's grandson, who currently serves as Chairman of the DPR, Puan Maharani.

KRI Bung Karno-369 is a corvette-type warship used, one of which is for the presidential ship to replace KRI Barakuda-633 which has been operating for 27 years.

Admiral Ali explained that the warship would later strengthen Fleet Command (Koarmada) I and its main task was surface warfare and anti-air warfare.

"This ship will later be equipped according to the function, the origin of the corvette itself, but the main task is more towards surface warfare and anti-air warfare. So, later it will be equipped with guided missiles, both the surface-to-surface missile for anti-surfaces and then the cannon is also replaced with a larger caliber, then equipped with a surface-to-air missile for anti-aircraft," said Muhammad Ali.

Several types of weapons will strengthen KRI Bung Karno-369, including one Meriam Leonardo 40 mm, two 20 mm machine guns, and two surface-to-air, torpedo, and sonar missile launchers.

The KRI will also be equipped with a device to carry a Panther helicopter, and a helicopter landing site -- similar to the KRI Bung Tomo-357.

The shipbuilding process spent 1 year, starting from the ordering period on June 21, 2022.

During the 12-month construction period, ship manufacturers were not only able to make KRI, but also completed sea acceptance test, harbour acceptance test (HAT), FFBNW (fit for but not with), to delivery (delivery) from the shipyard in Batam to Jakarta.

KRI Bung Karno, which is 73 meters long, 12 meters wide, and 5 meters high, weighs 650 tons. The warship, manned by 55 personnel, was able to sail at a speed of 22 knots, up to a maximum speed of 24 knots.
