Transactional Political Issues For Selection Of KPU And Regional Bawaslu Members, Commission II: If Recruitment Based On Kolega Can Be Tolerated

Chairman of Commission II of the DPR Ahmad Doli Kurnia reminded KPU and Bawaslu members to avoid transactional politics in the process of recruiting candidates for KPU and Bawaslu members at the provincial and district/city levels.

"I remind the KPU and Bawaslu RI to be careful. We have heard various rumors regarding the recruitment of KPU and Bawaslu commissioners at the provincial and district/city levels," said Doli in a meeting with the opinion (RDP) of Commission II of the DPR at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Monday, May 29, confiscated by Antara.

This, said Doli, was because he received information and input related to the selection process for KPU-Bawaslu members at the provincial and district/city levels which were indicated to have transactional elements.

He admitted that at first he did not believe it, but over time he admitted that he kept hearing the information.

"I try not to believe it, but if I don't feel like I'm reminded, it will continue to happen. If recruitment is based on colleagues and friends, it can be tolerated, but because it is transactional, this nation will not forgive all of you," he said.

Doli also asked the Election Organizers Honorary Council (DKPP) to pay close attention to this information.

"So I want to remind you, especially DKPP, we have to respect this open forum, there is live streaming. If there are people who feel that they have seen those incidents, Commission II is ready to open up to it, if someone reports it, I don't think there is mercy if it's like that," he said.

Because, he continued, reports related to indications of transactional selection of KPU and Bawaslu members in the provinces and districts/cities did not stop entering Commission II of the DPR.

"We have been determined from the start to make this 2024 election an authoritative and clean election. Don't let us be clean, hope that the community is clean, but we cannot set a good example to the community," he said.

The RDP of Commission II of the DPR which was held with the KPU, Bawaslu, DKPP, and the Ministry of Home Affairs was scheduled to discuss a number of draft General Election Commission Regulations (PKPU) and Bawaslu Regulations (Perbawaslu).

Among them, PKPU on Campaign Funds, PKPU concerning Voting Equipment and Support for Other Elections, as well as PKPU on Voting and Counting in Elections.

"Then we will discuss the draft Bawaslu Regulation regarding the Supervision of the Nomination of Members of the DPR, Provincial DPRD, and Members of the Regency/City DPRD," he said.
