Difficult Costs, 700 Couples In Rejang Lebong Don't Have A Marriage Book

REJANG LEBONG - Rejang Lebong Regency Government (Pemkab) official, Bengkulu Province, said hundreds of pairs of local residents do not yet have a marriage book. Most admitted that they did not have the cost of marriage at KUA.

"Based on our current data collection, there are still 700 pairs of residents of this area who do not yet have a marriage book," said Head of People's Welfare (Kesra) Rejang Lebong Regency Government Herwin Wijaya Kusuma as quoted by ANTARA, Friday, May 26.

He explained that there were hundreds of pairs of local residents who did not have this marriage book after his party collected data in 156 villages/kelurahan spread over 15 sub-districts to participate in the 2023 marriage isbat program.

Residents who do not have this marriage book, he said, are married religiously but have not been registered with the KUA because they do not have a fee.

He said hundreds of pairs of people who do not have a marriage book will then follow the selection to participate in the marriage ceremony program which was carried out by his party on Thursday, May 25, but only 25 couples passed.

The couple who passed the marriage isbat selection carried out by the Rejang Lebong Regency Government in collaboration with the Religious Courts (PA), the Ministry of Religion and Baznas Rejang Lebong in commemoration of the 143th Anniversary of Curup City (Rejang Lebong), were considered worthy and eligible, such as being young, not having population administration. Rejang Lebong Regency Government.

"The conditions for attending this marriage ceremony include having witnesses, namely people who knew about their marriage at that time. Then they had the administration of Rejang Lebong population such as electronic ID cards, family cards and were elderly," he explained.

According to him, the Rejang Lebong Regency Government will continue to hold a marriage isbat program, so that later there will be no more residents of the area who do not have a marriage book and are registered at the KUA.

Previously, Thursday (25/5) as many as 25 couples from families were unable to participate in the marriage isbat program carried out by the Rejang Lebong Regency Government in collaboration with the Religious Court (PA), Ministry of Religion and Baznas Rejang Lebong at the Dwi Tunggal Curup Field.
