JAKARTA - Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian asked five cross-border posts (PLBN) whose physical construction has been completed to be operated immediately.
"Earlier, I conveyed to Mr. Jefry and Mr. Robert to immediately coordinate with friends who are cross-border elements, immigration, customs, quarantine from agriculture and others. All, so that we can operate it immediately, we will operate these five," Tito said at the Coordination Meeting for State Border Management in 2023 in Jakarta as reported by ANTARA, Thursday, May 25.
The five new PLBNs that are ready to be inaugurated are the Serasan PLBN in Natuna, Riau Islands; PLBN Jagoi Babang in Bengkayang, West Kalimantan (West Kalimantan); PLBN Sei Mosquito in Nunukan, North Kalimantan (Kaltara).
Then, PLBN Napan in North Central Timor, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT); and PLBN Yettkun in Boven Digoel, South Papua.
According to him, the operation of the five new PLBNs can be carried out simultaneously while waiting for President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) to inaugurate simultaneously. The total PLBN that can be operated is thirteen PLBN until 2023.
"When the president has inaugurated only ceremonial, so it has not just been inaugurated, no, just run it, the sooner the better," he asked.
Tito said guarding borders is very important especially for Indonesia. Because Indonesia is one of the largest countries in the world and also the largest archipelagic country in the world which makes border management difficult
"To protect all state sovereignty, at least 70 PLBN is needed," added Tito.
