The Search For 2 Children Drowning In Tanjung Uncang Batam Waters Faces Strong Sea Current Constraints

BATAM - Basarnas Tanjungpinang admitted that they experienced problems with facing strong ocean currents during a search operation for two children drowned in Tanjung Uncang Waters, Batam City, Riau Islands (Kepri).

Head of Tanjungpinang Basarnas Slamet Riyadi said the problem caused the search to not be optimal so that the victim could not be found.

"We are still searching for the two children who drowned. The search has encountered problems because the ocean currents are quite strong," he said, Thursday, May 25, as reported by Antara.

"In addition, the incident occurred in bays and places and past large ships and fishing boats, so that officers in the field had difficulty finding victims," said Slamet.

He explained that his party had also used tools to detect objects in the water and expand the search for victims, but until this afternoon the results were still nil.

"Currently, officers are still searching around the scene, assisted by TNI/Polri officers and local residents to look for victims," he said.

Previously, six children drowned while doing activities in Tanjung Uncang Waters, Batam City, Wednesday, May 24. A total of four children have been found and are undergoing treatment at the hospital.

The six children are known to be looking for fish using wooden boats around Tanjung Uncang waters.

"The boat capsized due to being hit by waves and finally drowned," he said.
