Construction Of The Medan Islamic Center Officially Begins

The construction of the Medan City Islamic Center. North Sumatra (North Sumatra) was officially started, marked by the laying of the first stone which was witnessed directly by the Mayor of Medan Bobby Nasution in the Jalan Rawe III area, Tangkahan Village, Medan Labuhan District, Medan City.

Apart from being attended by Bobby Nasution, religious scholars as well as elements of Forkopimda and religious leaders, the laying of the first stone for the construction of the Medan Islamic Center was also attended by hundreds of residents of Medan City who looked so enthusiastic.

One of the scholars, Hasan Matsum who is also the Chair of the Medan City MUI, revealed that all scholars and the community are very grateful for the start of the Islamic Center development, marked by the laying of the first stone.

This Islamic Center, he said, is the big dream of the residents of Medan City who have been coveted for a long time.

"This means that for a dozen years the people of Medan City have been waiting for the establishment of the Islamic Center. I feel grateful and very touched and can't even speak up, especially apart from being accompanied by prayers for a sense of happiness. We have been waiting for the presence of this Islamic Center for decades and thank God today can be placed. the first development," he explained as quoted by ANTARA, Monday, May 22.

Hasan Matsum hopes that the construction of this Islamic Center will run smoothly and successfully until completion, especially since the initial stage of the construction of the mosque has been budgeted by the Medan City Government.

"Therefore, on behalf of Muslims in the city of Medan, we would like to thank the Mayor of Medan Bobby Nasution for budgeting funds for the development of this Islamic Center. To all the people of the city of Medan, especially Muslims around the world, we also thank you for your support for the development of the Islamic Center. May Allah SWT provide us with convenience," said the Chairman of the MUI Medan City.

Previously, Medan Mayor Bobby Nasution explained that the initial plan for the construction of an Islamic Center on an area of 48 hectares, but in 2021 the area that the Medan City Government could buy was only around 22 hectares.

"Furthermore, we consulted with MUI and ulama as well as Islamic organizations related to the construction of an Islamic Center on an area of 22 hectares because if it is awaited up to 48 hectares, it is feared that it will wait a long time before this Islamic Center can be built," he said.

Bobby Nasution explained, this Islamic Center was built by a state-owned company. "Of course we hope that the results are good and of good physical quality and the construction time is right. I entrust it to the Police Chief and Kajari because this development does not use a small budget, where the Medan City Government spends a budget of IDR 393 billion for the development of this Islamic Center," he said.

Furthermore, Bobby Nasution invited all elements of society, especially Muslims, to discuss and formulate and decide what kind of organization will be carried out in the Islamic Center in the future. Of course, this is the same as expected, namely according to the Muslim civilization.

"We hope that the presence of the Islamic Center can function as a place for Islamic civilization. Not only is it a center of worship, but also as an economic center, education center and center for social activities as well as a center for political activities. In addition, the presence of the Islamic Center also has an impact not only on Muslims but also on the entire community. Medan City," said Bobby Nasution.
