JAKARTA - The Indonesian Army (TNI AD) has sent logistical support for the Manunggal Air and Papua Terang Program to Wamena, Jayawijaya Regency, Papua Mountains, to expand access to clean water and electricity in areas that still face basic infrastructure constraints.
The delivery was carried out through Halim Perdanakusuma Airport, Jakarta, Tuesday (23/6), using the TNI Air Force Hercules aircraft.
The assistance sent includes water drilling equipment, supporting machines, and power generation devices that will be used to support the implementation of the program in the field.
Army Chief of Staff General TNI Maruli Simanjuntak said the program was part of an effort to provide better basic services to the community, especially in remote and hard-to-reach areas.
"We want to ensure that the presence of the state is really felt by all Indonesian people, including our brothers in Papua. Through the Manunggal Air and Papua Terang Program, the TNI AD not only builds facilities, but also brings hope, health, education, and a better future for the community," said KSAD General Maruli.
For the Manunggal Water Program, the TNI AD sent one unit of hydraulic water drilling machine, one unit of diesel water circulation pump, water circulation device, dozens of drill rod, various types of hoses, special drill bits, as well as other technical equipment.
The equipment will be used for the construction of clean water facilities for the community in the target area.
Meanwhile, in the Papua Terang Program, the TNI AD sent a number of dynamos and turbo generators to support the provision of electricity for the community.
The presence of electricity is expected to help the economic activities of residents, support the learning process, and expand access to information and communication.
The TNI AD also prepared follow-up support in the form of 12 television units, 12 parabola units, 24 mini bluetooth radio units, and 24 portable speakers complete with microphones.
The equipment is planned to be sent on the next flight to match the aircraft's carrying capacity, which is currently also carrying task force equipment and other support.
The Manunggal Air and Papua Terang programs are part of efforts to expand access to basic services while encouraging equitable development to areas that have been difficult to reach.
Through this support, the TNI AD hopes that the community can feel the more tangible benefits of the availability of clean water and electricity, two basic needs that are still a challenge in a number of Papua regions.
