JAKARTA - Member of the Indonesian House of Representatives with the initials B was reported to the Honorary Court of the House of Representatives (MKD) of the Republic of Indonesia on suspicion of violating the code of ethics related to domestic violence (KDRT) to his wife with the initials M.

"Today we made the complaint, the problem is experienced because it is related to the moral ethics of a member of the council that should not have been carried out. Today we reported, and our report has just been received. This was just received," said the attorney for the victim Srimiguna, quoted by ANTARA, Monday, May 22.

He then said, "Earlier I conveyed there was a domestic violence problem".

Srimiguna said that the complaint was made after the victim had previously taken legal action by reporting the legislator with the initial B to the Bandung Police in November 2022.

As a lawyer, he then visited the Bandung Police again in mid-April 2023 to follow up on the investigation process of his client.

"Finally, before Eid, we went to the Polrestabes to follow up the report so that it would be followed up and immediately followed up because considering that it has been more than five months before the investigation has been processed," he said.

Since May 2023, he said, the investigation process at the Bandung City Police has also increased and been transferred to the Criminal Investigation Unit of the National Police Headquarters in Jakarta.

"Alhamdulillah, on May 9, the report continues to be transferred to the Criminal Investigation Unit of the National Police Headquarters because the location of the incident was in three areas, Depok, Bandung, and Jakarta," he said.

He explained that in his complaint report to MKD today, his party also included a number of attachments including power of attorney, evidence of complaints to the Resort Police, identity of complainants, withdrawal of delegations to the National Police Headquarters, evidence to marriage certificates.

"But other evidence about post-mortem, then medical records, then evidence of beatings, photos, everything later, God willing, we will convey it during the trial," he said.

Although he has received a companion from the Witness and Victim Protection Agency (LPSK), he said that the victim's psychological condition is still unstable.

"So our client is currently psychologically unstable and our client also, thank God, received assistance from LPSK, so he didn't participate (to the DPR), we were given the power to make a complaint report to the MKD," he said.

However, he was reluctant to reveal in detail the details of the identity, as well as the events experienced by the victim, along with the alleged violation of the code of ethics code that was reported because he was waiting for the trial process of the DPR RI MKD first.

"We don't have any names, we don't mention the names of the people, nor do we mention the names of the factions," he added.

The advocat, who is a member of the Women and Children Protection Legal Advisory Team (PPA), also admitted that he submitted the results of the complaint report decision to the DPR RI MKD in order to get justice for his client.

"The point is that we ask the MKD to carry out the trial process with the aim that everything is open, our client is present to tell what the problem is, the decision is up to the MKD," he said.
