G7 Summit, Jokowi Calls For Revolution To Stop War

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo called on state leaders to dare to carry out a major revolution so that war can be stopped and avoided to create world peace.

This was emphasized by the President in expressing his views at the ninth G7 Summit with the topic Towards a Peaceful, Stable, and Prosperous World, which was held at the Grand Prince Hotel, Hiroshima, Japan, Sunday, May 21.

"As leaders, we must have the courage and willingness to carry out a great revolution to bring change and improvement so that war can be stopped," President Jokowi said in a written statement received quoted by ANTARA.

The Head of State assesses that the war will in the end only sacrifice the people. He said all parties wanted a peaceful, stable and prosperous world, but the current situation is not in line with this.

"Distust is getting thicker, rivalry is getting worse, wars and conflicts are still happening everywhere," he said.

In addition, in the midst of various increasingly worrying world crises, President Jokowi views that joint efforts to resolve the war have not shown significant developments.

In the closing statement, the President emphasized that peace, stability and prosperity are shared responsibility and goals. Therefore, the President invites world leaders to make changes.

"Let's make changes together," he said.
