Recording, Nepal's Sherpa Becomes The Second Person In The World To Achieve Mount Everest 26 Times

JAKARTA - A Nepalese Sherpa guide climbed Mount Everest for the 26th time on Sunday, climbing officials said, becoming the second person in the world to achieve this feat.

Sherpa, which mostly uses their first name, is known for her hiking skills and earning a living by guiding foreign clients in the mountains.

Dawa Futi further said that a woman from Pakistan, Naila Kiani, who also climbed the top on Sunday, was the first foreign climber to reach the summit of Everest during this year's climbing season, which runs from March to May.

This cannot be confirmed independently, as many foreign climbers are now heading to the summit, a day after the ropes to the top are repaired.

Kiani, a 37-year-old banker living in Dubai, has climbed four of the world's 14 tallest mountains before Everest, the Himalayan Times newspaper said.

As previously reported, Nepal has set a record by issuing 467 climbing permits this year, for foreign climbers who want to reach the summit of Everest.

Each climber is usually accompanied by at least one herdpa guide, sparking concerns that the narrow bottom of the summit, known as Hillary Step, could be packed.

Everest itself has been climb more than 11,000 times since it was first boarded by Sirten Hillary and Sherpa Tengg Norgay in 1953, with about 320 people killed in the effort, according to the Himalayan database and Nepalese officials.
