Cirebon City Police Arrest Two Minimarket Thieves Cross-Provincial

CIREBON - Cirebon City Resort Police (Polres), West Java arrested two thieves with violence from cross-provincial minimarket specialists.

"The two people we arrested had the initials PR and SP, the second was proven to have committed a criminal act of theft with violence," said Cirebon City Police Chief AKBP Ariek Indra Sentanu, quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, May 10.

Ariek said the perpetrators were minimarket specialist thieves, and they were carried out in groups in two provinces, namely West Java and Banten.

He explained that the two suspects were part of a group of thieves who had disturbed the public, even when committing their crimes they carried sharp weapons to threaten the victim.

According to him, the mode used by the suspect was to supervise minimarkets that had been targeted, then surveyed first, and then after knowing the terrain they immediately took action.

"During the action, these thieves carried sharp weapons and threatened employees to show the safe and hand over cash," he said.

He added that during the action, five people, two have been arrested by the Cirebon City Police, and one by the Cirebon Police and two people are still being chased.

Ariek said the two suspects admitted that they had committed theft several times with the same mode, and this was done in several areas in West Java and Banten.

Both continued Ariek, were arrested while in their respective homes in Lebak Regency, Banten Province, and when they were arrested they also had time to fight back so that the officers took decisive action.

"The two perpetrators are recidivists. And when they stole from the jurisdiction of the Cirebon City Police, they managed to steal Rp33 million in cash, and everything was distributed," he said.

As a result of their actions, the suspects were charged with Article 365 (1), (2) sub 2e of the Criminal Code with the threat of imprisonment for 12 years.
