The Detention Of Lina Mukherjee, Suspect Of Blasphemy Of Religion, Impact Of Pork Eating Content Suspended By The South Sumatra Police

SOUTH Sumatra Police (Sumsel) suspended the detention of Selebgram Lina Mukherjee alias LL with the @linamukherjee_ account as well as a suspect in blasphemy as a result of eating kriuk pig skin while reading bismillah.

"The detention was suspended, the reason is because the suspect has chronic maag health problems and was treated at the hospital," said Director of the Special Criminal Investigation Directorate of the South Sumatra Police, Kombes Pol Agung Marlianto, at a press conference in Palembang, Thursday, May 4, which was confiscated by Antara.

Agung stated that although he was not detained, the process of investigating the case that ensnared the woman named LL was still ongoing.

Investigators from the Sub-Directorate V Cyber Directorate of Special Criminal Investigation of the South Sumatra Police still require the suspect to be present to fulfill the examination if necessary until the case file is transferred to the prosecutor's office.

To note, LL was charged with violating Article 28 paragraph (2), in conjunction with Article 45 paragraph (2) of the Law on Information and Electronic Transactions (ITE) with a maximum penalty of six years in prison and a fine of Rp. 1 billion.

The threat of punishment is given after the investigator gets the adequacy of evidence supported by the statements of several witnesses and experts.

The evidence includes a fatwa of the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) stating that the information submitted by the suspect LL includes blasphemy.

"We confiscated a cell phone used by the suspect to record a video and one Linamukherjee_ social media account as evidence," he said.

Meanwhile, the LL suspect presented by the police admitted that he had made mistakes for his actions and words in the video content of eating pork skin uploaded on his social media account.

In the video with a duration of more than five minutes, LL admits that he is a Muslim who deliberately eats pork skin by taking advantage of prayers even though the law is haram.

For this reason, LL apologizes to the Indonesian people, especially to Muslims, if the statements and actions in the video are deemed inappropriate.
