There Are Candidates Already, NasDem Claims Announcement Of Anies' Vice Presidential Candidate Will Surprise

JAKARTA - The NasDem Party said there would be a surprise when the announcement of the vice presidential candidate accompanying Anies Baswedan in the 2024 presidential election.

Surya Paloh's political party revealed that currently the name of the candidate for vice president is still being discussed in order to get the best figure, not only for the supporting party but for Indonesia completely.

"We are preparing the leader of Indonesia for the next five years or ten years, meaning that we must choose the first one, he must be close to the people," said Deputy Secretary General for Winning the NasDem Party Election, Jakfar Sidik in a written statement, Thursday, May 4.

"Secondly, having a vision or imagination about Indonesia to be built is like what it will be like," he continued.

Even so, Jakfar continued, the Coalition for Amendments to Unity (KPP) gave full authority to Anies Baswedan to determine that his assistants were in accordance with those contained in the agreement charter for the three coalition parties, namely NasDem, Democrats and PKS.

However, Jakfar reminded that Anies' vice presidential figure would be a surprise in itself. Because, he said, the public will judge that the Anies duo and its companions are indeed the ideal couple to lead Indonesia in the future.

"Akan diberikan kejutan yang membuat semua, Wah memang ini pasangan ideal untuk memenangkan capres dan membangun Indonesia di masa depan," kata Jakfar.

Previously, the Chairperson of the NasDem Election, Sugeng Suparwoto, said that there were already five candidates who would become presidential candidates to accompany Anies Baswedan in the 2024 presidential election.

However, he did not want to reveal who the person with the potential to become an Anies vice presidential candidate was. Because according to him, it is part of the NasDem Party's strategy.

"Now there are 5 candidates. However, we cannot say who we are about. Because it is part of our strategy," said Sugeng in a virtual discussion, Wednesday, May 3.
