DKI Jakarta Environmental Agency Deploys More Than 150 Cleaning Officers After May Day

Head of the Environment Agency, Asep Kuswanto, in a written statement in Jakarta, said that he had assigned every Administrative City Environment Agency Sub-dept. to ensure the handling of waste in labor action locations in their respective regions. Asep explained that the actions of workers were concentrated on Jalan Medan Merdeka Utara and its surroundings. Therefore, his party deployed 150 cleaning officers, 10 automatic road sweepers (street sweeper), 10 truck types of truck levers (dump trucks) and five cars picking up traffic.

The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government Environmental Service ensures that the capital city will remain clean after the commemoration of International Labor Day or May Day.

Meanwhile, Gelora Bung Karno's manager deployed 15 officers to clean up Istora Senayan, Central Jakarta after the mass action on International Labor Day or "May Day" 2023. "We deployed 15 cleaners to clean up trash in the Istora Senayan area," said one of the cleaning staff, Samsul Bahri, to Antara, in Jakarta, Monday, May 1. Samsul estimates that later the collected waste can reach 30 bags that can reach two kilograms (kg) of garbage per bag. "Kalau untuk setiap hari biasanya cuma rata-rata sampai 10 kantong sampah. Untuk kegiatan besar ini bisa mencapai 30 kantong lebih," katanya.Menurut Samsul, kebanyakan sampah dikumpulkan pihaknya yakni bungkus plastik bekas makanan maupun minuman yang dibuang sembarangan.Samsuljuga mengimbau kepada masyarakat untuk bisa menjaga kebersihan dengan membuang sampah pada tempatnya ataupun menyimpan sementara sampahnya di tas sebelum menemukan tong sampah."Sejak selesainya May Day sekitar pukul 16.00 WIB tadi, kami sudah terjun membersihkan kawasan sampai malam hari nanti," katanya.
