The Reason Gerindra Rejects Jokowi's Offer To Become Ganjar's Vice Presidential Candidate: Currently Indonesia Needs Prabowo's Figure

Deputy Chairperson of the Gerindra Party, Fadli Zon, explained the reason why Gerindra Party chairman Prabowo Subianto rejected the offer to become Ganjar Pranowo's vice presidential candidate in the 2024 presidential election.

According to Fadli Zon, Prabowo rejected the offer because Gerindra as an organization had appointed Prabowo as a presidential candidate in 2024.

"From Gerindra, we are already firm, we have decided Pak Prabowo as a presidential candidate. We see that Pak Prabowo's opportunity is very high, very large in getting support from the people in the current situation and conditions," said Fadli Zon during his statement, Sunday, April 23.

Moreover, said Fadli Zon, Indonesia currently needs leaders like Prabowo. The reason is, Prabowo is the middle way between right and left groups in Indonesia.

"I see that the current situation and conditions, yes, we need people like Pak Prabowo. Pak Prabowo is like a middle ground in my opinion. As a middle way, I think I have a very big opportunity to get support from the people," he explained.

It's just that, said Fadli Zon, politics is still dynamic so that anything can happen in the future, including the emergence of presidential and vice presidential pairs in the 2024 presidential election.

Even though Gerindra has decided on Prabowo Subianto to be the 2024 presidential candidate, any possibility can still happen, including the names that will become Prabowo's vice presidential candidate.

"Yes, as Pak Prabowo said, our political dynamics are still ongoing. Moreover, the nomination is still a few months, yes, five to six months. So it's still a long time,"

"Maybe we can't decide on this or finalize it in the near future until later there will be an official nomination to the KPU," continued Fadli Zon.
