1,116 Prisoners In Bali Get Remission, 13 Of Them Are Immediately Free

A total of 1,116 prisoners in prisons (prisons) and state detention centers (rutan) in eight regions of Bali Province received special remissions at the moment of Eid al-Fitr 1444 Hijriah. According to information from Anggiat, 1,116 prisoners who received remissions in Bali during Eid Al-Fitr at most at Bangli Narcotics Prison were 475 people and followed by inmates in Kerobokan Prison as many as 197 people. Then, then inmates in Bangli Prison as many as 105 people, Kerobokan Women's Prison as many as 78 people, Karangasem Prison as many as 47 people, Gianyar Prison as many as 47 people, Lapas Singaraja as many as 38 people, Taban Prison as many as 36 people, Rutan Negara as many as 36 people, Klung Detention Center as many as 24 people and LPKA Karangasem as many as 7 people. Meanwhile, for 13 prisoners who were immediately released were seven inmates in Kerobokan Prison, five inmates in Bangli Narcotics Prison, and one inmate at Bangli Prison. "This year residents who received special remission of Idulfitri 1444 Hijriah as many as 1,116 people. Of these numbers, 13 of them were immediately free," said Anggiat quoted by ANTARA, Saturday, April 22.

Anggiat said the special remissions given to thousands of these inmates on Eid al-Fitr are different for each person with a maximum of two months and at least 15 days. Anggiat explained that the special remission of Eid al-Fitr 1444 Hijriah was given to prisoners who had fulfilled the administrative and substantive requirements, such as having served a minimum sentence of six months, not registered in the record of disciplinary violation of prisoners, and actively participating in the coaching program organized by the Board of Trustees. The granting of remissions or reduction of the criminal period was given to prisoners in accordance with the Law as stated in the Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 22 of 2022 concerning Corrections and Regulation of the Minister of Law and Human Rights (Permenkumham) No. 7 of 2022 concerning the second amendment to Permenkumham No. 3 of 2018 concerning Requirements and Procedures for Granting Remission, Assimilation, Leave of Visiting Family, Conditional Liberation, Leave Ahead of Freeness and Conditional Leave. According to Anggiat's statement, the remission obtained by prisoners is a form of appreciation and at the same time the right given by the state for the achievement of inmates in behaving and accepting coaching in prisons or remands. "The provision of Eid al-Fitr remission is expected to be used as reflection and motivation to always self-introspect into better human beings in the future," said Anggiat. Therefore, he invites all inmates to play an active role in following all forms of coaching programs and not committing unlawful acts and violating the rules in prisons/Rutan/LPKA, so that it can be a provision of life later when returning to society.
