Korlantas Calls Odd-Even Application On Toll Roads When Homecoming Flows Are Situational

JAKARTA - The Traffic Corps (Korlantas) of the National Police said that the implementation of the odd-even scheme on toll roads during the 2023 Lebaran homecoming flow was situational. Thus, its implementation will refer to the situation and conditions of vehicle density.

"I say this odd-even is an option to reduce density. My appeal was earlier. It was very situational," said Head of Traffic Police Inspector General Firman Shantyabudi to reporters, Tuesday, April 18.

The implementation of the odd-even scheme on toll roads situationally because the 2023 Eid holiday is not included in law enforcement operations. Rather, services that prioritize density prevention.

So, for now, the contraflow and one way schemes are a priority in their implementation.

"It's very situational, because this operation is not an law enforcement operation, it is more of a service arrangement operation that is prioritized to prevent prevention, so to prevent traffic jams," he said.

Even though it is situational, Firman appealed to travelers to continue using cars with police numbers that match the date. Because, it is possible that the odd-even scheme will be implemented suddenly.

"It is important to arrange when you leave according to your number plate, hopefully, it won't get odd-even, meaning that everything can go well, it won't be odd or even, we will apply it, the last option," said Firman.

Meanwhile, the National Police predicts that the peak of the 2023 Eid homecoming will occur on two occasions. The reason is the government's decision to advance collective leave time related to Eid al-Fitr 1444 Hijri.

In the Joint Decree (SKB) 3 Ministers of Leave with Lebaran are set on April 19 to 25, 2023.

"There are two estimates (of the peak) of going home because for leave it is advanced," said the Head of the Public Relations Division of the National Police Inspector General Sandi Nugroho.

The peak of the first homecoming flow is predicted to occur at the beginning of collective leave or April 19. Then the second on April 21 or D-2 Lebaran.

"It is estimated that it will be the peak of homecoming from 19 to 21 April," he said.
