Three Umrah Travel Fraud Modes PT NSWM, Cheap Prices To Enable Expired Tickets

JAKARTA - Polda Metro Jaya revealed three modes of conspiracy to fraud the Umrah travel mode of PT Naila Safaah Wisata Mandiri (NSWM) which caused dozens of worshipers to be abandoned. Starting from selling tickets at a price below the standard recommended by the Ministry of Religion to activating tickets that have been burned or expired.

"The method is, among other things, selling tickets cheaper or under references from the Ministry of Religion. This is to attract pilgrims so they can participate in PT Naila's travel," said Director of General Criminal Investigation of the Metro Jaya Police Kombes Hengki Haryadi to reporters, Thursday, March 30.

For the second mode, the suspects promote through social media. Of course, by displaying photo and video content in the form of testimonials for the departing pilgrims.

Then, they also falsified the QR code. In other words, the suspects used the previous congregation code for those who were leaving.

"This travel falsifies the QR Code, so the congregation has a barcode. This fatal contains congregational data. This is between different photos and codes. These are the pilgrims who have departed. So if they go missing in Saudi Arabia, it is difficult to detect," he said.

The last mode, they promised potential victims, could reactivate expired tickets. Of course, with an additional regular interest.

Especially for this mode, investigators are said to be still investigating it. Later, all parties involved such as airlines and others will be questioned.

"Then the mode of the charred ticket can be turned on again, adding Rp. 2.5 million. How can this be investigated, we will call the airline. We are currently holding a summons for us to investigate," said Hengki.

In a series of disclosures of cases of Umrah travel mode fraud, three people were named as suspects. They include Mahfudz Abdullah, Halijah Amin, and Hermansyah.

In carrying out the action, this gang of fraudsters collaborated with religious leaders. The goal is for people to believe and want to use the travel services.

The three were charged with Article 126 Juncto Article 119 A of Law Number 8 of 2019 concerning the Implementation of Hajj and Umrah as amended in Article 126 of Law Number 11 of 2020 concerning Job Creation with a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison.
