JAKARTA - The professional aspect is President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) 's main consideration in appointing Komjen Listyo Sigit Prabowo as the sole candidate for National Police Chief to replace Idham Azis.

Deputy Chairman of Commission III of the DPR RI, Ahmad Sahroni, said that this appointment has also proven that the National Police is an inclusive institution and does not elect leaders based on race or religion.

"This appointment also proves that in choosing the top leadership of the National Police, President Jokowi really only considers professionalism, not from what religion or ethnicity (SARA) does not exist," Sahroni said as quoted by Antara, Jakarta, Wednesday, January 13.

According to Sahroni, Komjen Listyo, who now serves as Kabareskrim, is the right candidate because he has excellent achievements and track records. He assessed that Commission III of the DPR welcomed the name proposal.

"In my opinion, Komjen Listyo Sigit is a candidate for the National Police who has a very good track record. We can see this from his performance and achievements so far," he said.

In addition, he considered, by proposing the name of Komjen Listyo, President Jokowi had made it easier for the members of Commission III of the DPR to carry out a fit and proper test because the person concerned was the most suitable officer to hold the position.

Previously, the DPR RI received a Presidential Letter regarding the name of the candidate for Chief of Police of the Republic of Indonesia on behalf of Komjen Pol. Listyo Sigit Prabowo. The surpres numbered: R-02 / Pres / 01/2021 and was conveyed by Minister of State Secretary Pratikno at the Parliament Building, Jakarta, Wednesday.

The DPR RI has 20 days to follow up from the time the Surpres was submitted to the DPR, namely Wednesday, January 13.
