JAYAPURA - The Puncak Resort Police is currently handling the shooting case of a motorcycle taxi driver named Irwan that was committed by the Armed Criminal Group (KKB) at the Kimak intersection, Ilaga District, Puncak Regency, Wednesday, March 22, around 09.20 WITA.

Head of Public Relations of the Papuan Police Commissioner Ignatius Benny Ady Prabowo said the incident started when the witness saw the victim accompanying the perpetrator to the Kimak T-junction Street (asphalt road boundary), then the victim waited for the perpetrator to pay the fee.

"Suddenly the perpetrator immediately took out a black FN type firearm and shot the victim from behind once", said the Head of Public Relations in his statement, Wednesday, March 22.

Furthermore, the Commissioner said the witness who saw the incident immediately fled to the house of the head of the Puncak Regency Social Service to protect himself.

"The shooting was carried out by two people, one perpetrator who shot the victim and the other one who helped the first perpetrator to shoot the victim", he said.

Commissioner Benny also said that the victim was taken by members of the TNI-Police to the Ilaga Health Center for treatment. However, during the treatment process at the Ilaga Health Center, the victim was declared dead.

"The body will be sent tomorrow to his hometown in Jennae, Soppeng Regency, South Sulawesi Province for burial", he said.

Benny also explained that currently the Puncak Police are intensifying patrols around Ilaga City, and are still investigating the shooting case.
