Hasto Says The Presidential Candidate Must Be From PDIP When Responding To The Discourse Of Prabowo-Ganjar Duet, Gerindra Says This

JAKARTA - The Daily Chairperson of the Gerindra Party DPP, Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, responded to the statement by the Secretary General of the PDIP Hasto Kristiyanto who emphasized that the candidate for president must be from the PDIP.

Hasto said this in response to the discourse on the Prabowo Subianto-Ganjar Pranowo duet for the 2024 presidential election.

According to Dasco, each political party has its own plans regarding presidential candidates. PDIP wants a presidential candidate from its cadres while Gerindra nominates its general Chairperson.

"Yes, I think everyone has their own plans. If PDIP has such a plan, then Gerindra also has a plan according to the existing mechanism," said Dasco at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Tuesday, March 14.

"It should be noted that the results of the Gerindra party's rapimnas are our benchmark for presidential candidates. Mr. Prabowo is from the Gerindra party and so far the results of the National Rapimnas have not changed, yes of course they are still like that," continued Dasco

Questioning the statement by Deputy Chairperson of the Gerindra Advisory Board, Hashim Djojohadikusumo, who opened up the possibility of pairing Prabowo with Ganjar, Dasco assessed that this was only the personal view of the defense minister's younger brother.

"I think what Pak Hashim said personally yesterday was at an event which was later asked by journalists. Well, I have asked in detail, there are journalists who have asked if, for example, what is this duet with this, of course, it's about coalitions, about partners, It's legal to circulate in society," he said.

Meanwhile, officially, said Dasco, the determination of Prabowo's duet partner will be determined according to the mechanism in the Gerindra Party.

"That later, of course, the political parties will have their own mechanism later," he concluded.

It is known that the discourse on the Prabowo-Ganjar duet in the 2024 election emerged after the two of them accompanied President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) in Kebumen, Central Java.

However, PDIP Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto emphasized that the presidential candidate to be nominated must be from the PDIP.

"Yes, of course, the cooperation offer for the presidential candidate came from the PDI Perjuangan," said Hasto in the Sentul area, Bogor Regency, West Java, as quoted in a written statement, Monday, March 13.

As for the determination of the vice presidential candidate, Hasto emphasized that the discussion must be in accordance with the existing political configuration and cooperation between political parties.

"This means that it must be mutually agreed upon, by the political parties that are building the cooperation. Considering that the presidential and vice presidential candidates are carried out by political parties or a coalition of political parties," said Hasto.
