Update, Fire At Plumpang Pertamina Depot Has Subsided, Officers Are Cooling It Down

JAKARTA – It is reported that the fire condition at the Pertamina Depot, Plumpang, North Jakarta has subsided. Firefighters are doing cool down.

"It's gone out, just cooling down, and I've heard earlier Pertamina checking the burning pipe. The point is Pertamina is safe. Those that are still burning are in the lower Tanah Merah settlement, but now they are still being handled and are now starting to subside,” said the Head of the North Jakarta Fire and Rescue Service, Rahmat Kristantio, early Saturday, March 4.

Rahmat explained that the burned area in the Pertamina depot was quite large, reaching 1.5 hectares.

"The area of ​​about 1.5 hectares is for the Plumpang area. But for settlements, I have not been able to collect data, right now we are focusing on finding victims," he added.

Rahmat said, extinguishing Pertamina Depot still uses water. According to him, cooling is done so that heat radiation does not reach residential areas.

"For those at Pertamina, we still use water because the point is that the flow of fuel can be stopped. So we only cool it down so that the heat goes down without radiation to the settlements, at first it was due to the radiation of the burning settlements," he explained.

Firefighters are said to have had difficulty accessing the road to the location of the fire in a resident's house.

"Meanwhile, in the settlements, we have difficulty with road access, it's a bit difficult to connect water sources. Thank God now it has subsided. Apart from extinguishing the fire, we are also searching for victims because almost all of the victims are from settlements," he said

A total of 255 firefighters were deployed to extinguish the fire.

"The number of our personnel is 255 people, 51 units from our 5 regions combined. We are here since 20.00 at the location around 20.20. Indeed, when we arrived it requires a large water resource for a big fire, for the Plumpang one is finished at 12.00, but in the settlements still not," he closed.
