JAKARTA – Residents of Plumpang, North Jakarta, recounted the moments of the fire at the Plumpang Depot, North Jakarta. Tasya (22), a resident, said that initially, she saw white smoke near the incident site (Plumpang Pertamina Depot). Then, she smelled a rather pungent smell of gasoline.

"The information was that it was hit by lightning, first there was white smoke," said Tasya when met at Pelumpang Semper Street, Koja, North Jakarta.

Tasya said that at that time she saw residents around her fainting. Allegedly due to inhaling the pungent smell of gasoline

"Keep falling convulsions a lot. Residents run. Anyway, at that time we didn't think about anything, the important thing was safety," she concluded.

The number of victims of the Pertamina Depot fire is increasing. Based on data from the Fire Department and Volunteers, dozens of residents have become victims and some have been taken to the nearest hospital for treatment.

5 people were taken to the Pelabuhan Hospital, 11 people were taken to the Tugu Koja Hospital, 15 people were taken to the Mulyasari Hospital, 13 people were taken to the Koja Hospital, and 5 people were taken to Firdaus Hospital.

Meanwhile, there were 49 adult victims and one child. In total, 50 residents were victims.

The data received, there were 17 people died. 2 of them are children.

So far, firefighters are still extinguishing the incident at the scene. Hundreds of residents were evacuated to avoid this incident.

The suspected cause of the fire

Head of North Jakarta Firefighter Operations Section, Abdul Wahid explained, until now he has not been able to confirm the cause of the fire at the Pertamina Depot in the Plumpang area, North Jakarta, which occurred on Friday, March 3.
