Kudus Regency Government Cancels Relocation, Vegetable Traders Can Still Find Fortune at the Bitingan Market

KUDUS - The Kudus Regency Government, Central Java, has cancelled relocating vegetable traders who sell at night at the Bitingan Market due to various considerations.

"After meetings with various parties, eventually vegetable traders at night at the Bitingan Market were still permitted to sell in the market complex," said Acting Head of the Kudus Trade Service Jadmiko Muhardi Setiyanto, quoted from Antara on Sunday, February 12.

It's just that, he said, traders are prohibited from using the sidewalk or roadside so as not to disturb the smooth flow of traffic.

A vegetable seller at night, Jono from Purwodadi Regency, admitted that he was happy if he could still sell at the Bitingan Market complex because if he was relocated, of course, he would have to find new customers.

The location is also far from the market, he said, of course, there will be a transition period, and sales turnover will decrease.

"So far, I have been selling in the market complex, not taking advantage of the road body so it doesn't interfere with highway access," he said.

After selling in Kudus, he moved to Purwodadi Market to re-sell his wares, starting from spinach, eggplant, cucumber, squash, and bitter melon.

Totok, a vegetable seller at night, admits that he prefers to sell at the Bitingan Market complex because the land is wide. Meanwhile, at the relocation site, the land is narrow, so of course the merchandise cannot fit if you are based on everything.

Previously, the Kudus Regency Government had prepared a relocation site at the Bird Market on Jalan Kudus-Purwodadi which was also not too far from the Bitingan Market.

However, the plan was cancelled due to various considerations. The Kudus Trade Office also made a joint agreement that traders are prohibited from selling outside the market complex, including using the sidewalks.
