Alleviation of Extreme Poverty Constrained by Newcomers, Governor of DKI Heru Budi Asks Sub-District- Village Head To Move

JAKARTA - The Governor of DKI Heru Budi Hartono asked the sub-district and village heads to move in handling new arrivals. This request arises because they often become obstacles in efforts to eradicate extreme poverty in Jakarta.

"The sub-district and village heads need assistance from the RT (Neighborhood Association) and RW (Citizens Association) in dealing with new arrivals", said Heru in his written statement, Saturday, February 4.

The target of 0 per cent extreme poverty in 2024 as directed by President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) must be met, said Budi. It's just that the Pemprov DKI can't work alone.

"We need synergy and coordination between RT, RW, DKI Jakarta Provincial Government, Polri and TNI", he stressed.

In addition to the problem of extreme poverty, said Budi, stunting must also be worked on to its maximum alleviation. Moreover, the central government is targeting to reduce the stunting rate below 14 per cent.

In this effort, the DKI Provincial Government will coordinate with the Ministry of Health, Ministry of Social Affairs, BKKBN, and DKI Jakarta Provincial BPS to synchronize data and intervene in stunting cases. Meanwhile, RT and RW are asked to continue to monitor the health of pregnant women and babies for two years or Baduta.

The nutrition and needs of pregnant women must be fulfilled. Next, it is hoped that the RT and RW can remind them to diligently check their health.

Meanwhile, mothers with babies for two years, said Budi, can be reminded to take their children to the Posyandu so that their health can be monitored.

"The head of the RW together with the head of the RT and Dasa Wisma should monitor the condition of the child suspected of being stunted to ensure that the assistance interventions provided are right on target", he concluded.
