After Landslide, An Emergency Bridge To The Zero Kilometer In Sabang Aceh Is Being Built

JAKARTA - The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) for the City of Sabang, Aceh, said that currently an emergency bridge is being built for community access to the Zero Kilometer Monument.

The Chief Executive of the BPBD for Sabang City, Unaya Syarbini, said that currently only one bridge leading to the Zero Kilometer Monument was cut off due to the landslide.

"Today a team from Banda Aceh Street, Aceh Province, which is an extension of the PUPR Ministry, has gone down to the field. Meanwhile, they will build an emergency bridge so that later anyone who will go to the Zero Kilometer tour will be able to pass," he said as reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, February 1

Unaya reported that currently restoration of access to electricity and telecommunications has been carried out in the Kilometer Zero area. Recovery in the national icon area is prioritized by repairing electricity poles by PLN.

The main access to the Iboih tourist area has also recovered and can be passed by two-wheeled and four-wheeled vehicles. Three pieces of heavy equipment from the Department of Public Works and the community have been deployed to clean up the former avalanche.

Due to the high-intensity rain on Sunday (29/1), nine gampongs were flooded. The current condition of the floods has receded and only affects around 10 households in Gampong Paya Seunara.

"As for the others, the people have returned to their respective places, because the flood conditions in Sabang City may be due to the archipelago, the mountains, so the floods don't have a long impact. One or a few hours the water is dry, it has flowed back into the river," said Unaya.
