3 Bodies In Karanganyar Allegedly Cockfighting Gamblers Who Fleeed Into The River During A Raid, Then Drowned

PEKALONGAN - After finding two male bodies in the Sengkarang River, Karanganyar District, Pekalongan Regency, another male body was found in the same location. The Pekalongan Police, and the Central Java Regional Police suspect that the three men died due to drowning.

"Based on the results of processing the crime scene (TKP), it is possible that the victim died due to drowning," said Pekalongan Police Chief AKBP Arief Fajar Satria, as quoted from Antara, Thursday, January 19.

The three victims who died were Didik Maryoko (35), a resident of Bandar District, Batang Regency, who was found dead at 07.15 WIB, Setyo Meinarno (39), a resident of Kajen District, Pekalongan Regency, who was found at 12.30 WIB, and Eko Novitri Putra, a resident of Batang Regency, who was found dead at 17.00 WIB.

He stated that the discovery of the body began when a laborer looking for materials in the river saw a body leaning against the rocks of the river.

Panic-stricken, the witness Mufidah then reported to Kayugeritan Village Head Suyatno (57) who immediately coordinated with the police.

The police then checked the location and carried out a sweep. However, from the search results in the field, it turned out that there were two more bodies found in the Seangkarang River.

Arief Fajar Satria did not deny that the victims were afraid because the police raided the cockfighting arena, so they tried to escape into the river.

The gambling location for the cockfighting arena and the Sengkarang River is indeed about 2 kilometers away so it is possible for the victims to run in fear.

"Moreover, when they run in steep hills and don't control the road. Because they might feel scared and throw themselves into the river," he also said.

The police chief said that from the external post-mortem results, no suspicious signs were found from the victims who died.

"Currently, the victims have been returned to their respective families to be buried. The victims' families have also accepted the incident as a disaster," he said.
