COVID-19 Update as of December 22: Active Cases Drop Again, Now 23,115 Cases

JAKARTA - The COVID-19 Handling Task Force released the latest additional positive cases of COVID-19 today. A total of 47,837 specimens were examined with the result that there were 1,053 new positive cases of COVID-19.

"The total accumulation of positive cases since COVID-19 was discovered in Indonesia has reached 6,712,879 people and active cases decreased by 1,295 to 23,115 cases", it was quoted as saying from the COVID-19 Task Force data, Thursday, December 22.

Today's recovered cases increased by 2,324 people, bringing a total of 6,530,276 people recovered. Then, positive confirmed cases who died increased by 22 cases and a total of 160,488 people.

The province with the newest cases was West Java with 316 cases and a total of 1,534,307 cases. Followed by DKI Jakarta's 203 new cases with a total of 1,230,929 cases. East Java has 106 new cases and a total of 636,075 cases. Banten, 81 new cases and a total of 364,509 cases.

The province with the most recovered cases today belongs to DKI Jakarta with an additional 800 recovered cases. Followed by West Java with an additional 766 recovered cases, Banten with an additional 207 recovered cases, and East Java with an additional 146 recovered cases.

In addition, the number of specimens that have been examined using RT-PCR, TCM, and antigen reached 113,609,861.

"The positive results per number of people examined or the positivity rate of people this week is 5.01 percent", it wrote.

The number of people suspected of having contracted COVID-19 or who are currently categorized as suspected cases is recorded at 2,944 people. Currently, 34 provinces have had COVID-19 cases.

To date, 203,947,923 people have received the first dose of COVID-19 vaccination and 174,660,163 people have received the second dose of vaccination.

While the third dose of vaccination was 68,181,739 and the fourth dose was 1,127,650. Meanwhile, the target for vaccination in Indonesia is 234,666,020 people.
