West Java Regional Police Sambut Christmas And New Year: 260 Thousand Officers Deployed, 326 Security Posts Founded

West Java (Jabar) Regional Police (Polda) deployed 260,000 personnel to secure Christmas 2022 and New Year 2023. The officers were deployed at various vital object points in West Java in the 2022 Lodaya Candle Operation.

West Java Police Chief Inspector General Suntana said the operation was carried out from December 23 to January 2, 2023. The officers were also placed guarding tourist sites.

"We will carry out all routes, alternative roads, and toll roads (security) for Christmas Mass Eve and the following day. We will shift in several places to carry out monitoring," said Suntana after the 2022 Candle Operation Forces Ceremony in front of Gedung Sate, Bandung City, West Java, Thursday 22 December.

In the jurisdiction of the West Java Regional Police, Suntana said there were 326 security posts established. Security posts at various points consist of integrated security posts, traffic security posts, and community service posts.

In addition, he said, his party increased early detection of threats or movements of terrorism. All personnel involved in the 2022 Lodaya Candle Operation and the police to the police were ordered to detect the threat.

"If there is information that we receive and we develop it will become a disturbance, we will immediately implement it according to the rules," he said.

Meanwhile, the Head of Public Relations of the West Java Police, Kombes Pol Ibrahim Tompo, said that there were various locations that were targeted for security, ranging from 1,210 churches, 334 places of worship, 598 tourist attractions, 60 terminals, and 138 shopping centers (malls).

"Then there are three airports, the location of community activities is approximately 1,239 places, stations, bus pools, and others approximately 66 places, while the port is about two places," said Ibrahim.

After the 2022 Lodaya Candle Operation period is over, according to him, the West Java Police will hold an Enhanced Routine Activities (KRYD) to ensure that security and public order run conducively.

"That is for the maintenance of the region by carrying out routine activities that are increased for seven days from January 3 to January 9, 2023," he said.
