Seven Rizieq Sympathizers Determined By The 1812 Protest: Two Bring Marijuana, Five Bring Sajam

JAKARTA - Polda Metro Jaya has repatriated most of the 455 sympathizers of Rizieq Shihab who were arrested during the 1812 demonstration. However, seven people are still being detained and named as suspects.

"All of them were sent home unless they were carrying sharp weapons, that was processed, five people were detained. Two of them were carrying drugs, they were detained," said Head of Public Relations at Polda Metro Jaya Police Commissioner Yusri Yunus when confirmed in Jakarta, Sunday, December 20.

Yusri explained that the type of drug carried by the two suspects was marijuana and the two were secured in Depok. Meanwhile, five suspects who were carrying sharp weapons were arrested in Tangerang and North Jakarta.

Yusri explained that almost all of the 1812 demonstrators, apart from the seven suspects above, were only secured for 1x24 hours for data collection and questioning.

In addition, police officers also implemented health protocols by conducting rapid tests on the 455 people and found 28 reactive.

Yusri then explained that the 28 people were also not sent home by the police, but were taken to the Wisma Atlet Emergency Hospital to undergo a swab test.

"It was returned, information has been taken. Except for the 28 reactive ones, they are still at the Athlete's House," said Yusri.

Polda Metro Jaya together with the joint team disbanded the 1812 action from several mass organizations, including the 212 Alumni Brotherhood (PA), FPI and the Ulama Fatwa Guard National Movement (GNPF) at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, Friday, December 18.

The police did not give permission to express opinions in public to Rizieq Shihab sympathizers. Polda Metro Jaya did not give permission for the action plan demanding Rizieq's release because of the pandemic period, so there was a potential for crowds to cause the COVID-19 cluster.
